What is Alyssa's Law?

Alyssa’s Law is named after Alyssa Alhadeff, one of 17 students who lost their lives during a tragic school shooting in Parkland, Fla., in 2018. After a thorough investigation, it was noted that “insufficient response time” was a critical factor in preventing lives lost. Alyssa’s Law proactively works to counter gun violence by requiring elementary and secondary school buildings to implement preventative security measures. The law specifically requires warning lights and silent panic alarms that directly link to law enforcement to notify them of any emergency.

What is a silent panic alarm?

A silent panic alarm allows authorized personnel to instantly alert law enforcement of an emergency with a manual panic button or a human-less response activated through gunshot detection which minimizes response time.
