Guaranteed quality for over 100 years...and counting.
Since 1920, Saia Burgess Controls has created industrial-grade electronic components and systems for control and automation, from mechanical switchgears to solutions being integrated into 21st-century IT systems.
The first in a century of breakthroughs.
In 1920, the company SAIA AG (Société Anonyme des Interrupteurs Automatiques) was founded in Bern. Our time-controlled switchgears enabled the first automatic control sequences.
Two pioneers working separately...for now.
Founded in 1935, Burgess Products Ltd was a pioneer of the modern microswitch. Meanwhile, SAIA AG moved to Murten. In 1978, SAIA created the first generation of Saia PCD controllers.
Two companies, and their minds, came together.
In 1989, the two companies were combined under the name Saia Burgess. At this time, the second generation of PLCs was released on the market – the Process Control Device, or PCD.
Growth that extended to new industries.
New business segments were launched, including millions of stepper motors for the automotive industry. In 1998, the renamed Saia-Burgess Electronics AG went public on the stock market.
A new company created new ways of thinking.
In 2001, Saia-Burgess Controls AG was founded and more innovations followed. In 2005, the Saia Burgess Group, now part of Johnson Electric, introduced a new concept – lean production.
SBC becomes part of the global Honeywell family.
Instead of proprietary technologies, Saia PCD controllers are now based on open, recognised standards. In 2012, Saia-Burgess Controls AG became part of Honeywell Inc., opening new markets.
