What is NDAA 2019?
The John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 (NDAA 2019) sets the budget, expenditures and policies for the U.S. Department of Defense. Among its regulations, section 889 prohibits the government, as well as its contractors and recipients of grants or loans, from procuring video and telecommunication equipment from specific Chinese companies and their subsidiaries.
What this means for schools
Most schools receive some level of federal funding, and that portion of your budget likely falls under section 889: Devices such as security cameras cannot be made by the prohibited companies.
This includes a growing number of vendors who rebrand and resell those devices.
